Artist's Description
I have driven past this spot for years, on my way to work, but never saw more than the beautiful trees lining the road. Some time ago, the entire large forest lot was cut down, revealing this little moss covered shed and this "last man standing" tree next to it. I'm really drawn to these two remaining partners when I drive down Gunderson Road, now. I have painted this scene in my head a hundred times as I've passed, and it was simply time to do it for real.
About James Andrews

James Andrews is an artist and teacher who has been living in the Pacific Northwest since 1999. Andrews work is best described as Narrative Surrealism. While he is skilled in classical figure drawing with graphite and color pencil, the bulk of his professional work is in painting. Born in Brooklyn, New York, in 1973, Andrews' family moved out to Long Island's beautiful East End when he was a toddler. The skies, waters and other scenic features of the beloved Hamptons area, which he will always refer to as “home” populate many of his paintings. Andrews has always had a love of art and the stories it can tell. This love led him to pursue and earn a BFA in Theatrical Design from the State University of New York at New Paltz and,...
