"Tuesday's Child is full of grace," says the old rhyme. That made choosing the title for this painting of my daughter, Gracie, really very easy. While I used photos of Gracie as reference, the landscape is entirely invented from my memories. I'm very happy with the light in this piece. I can really feel the coolness of the ground and grasses as the day comes to an end.

James Andrews is an artist and teacher who has been living in the Pacific Northwest since 1999. Andrews work is best described as Narrative Surrealism. While he is skilled in classical figure drawing with graphite and color pencil, the bulk of his professional work is in painting. Born in Brooklyn, New York, in 1973, Andrews' family moved out to Long Island's beautiful East End when he was a toddler. The skies, waters and other scenic features of the beloved Hamptons area, which he will always refer to as “home” populate many of his paintings.
