Description
This portrait is a companion piece to, Promethea. My younger daughter, Gracie, served as the model. In this work, Prosperata is pictured as an embodiment of Lakshmi, the consort of the Hindu god, Vishnu. Lakshmi is normally depicted with a lotus growing at her navel. She is also depicted with elephants and usually with gold, which I showed by depicting Kitsap County's Gold Mountain in the background. She is a harbinger of prosperity. These two paintings may be the beginning of a series. I enjoy the idea of depicting deities as regular, everyday people--showing the divinity in each of us.
