Our spiral notebooks are 6" x 8" in size and include 120 pages which are lined on both sides. The artwork is printed on the front cover which is made of thick paper stock, and the back cover is medium gray in color. The inside of the back cover includes a pocket for storing extra paper and pens.

This is one of the more raw and personal images I have ever done. Marissa, the model, is a great pal of mine from my SUNY New Paltz theatre days. For years, as Marissa has put it, her "boobs have been trying to kill (her)." Her story, like so many others, is long, frustrating, maddening, sad, but also filled with hope and sooo much fight. When I let her know that I wanted to paint her and what I had in mind for possible poses, she was 100% down with it---total rock star. When I saw this pose...this look in her eyes, every idea I had went out the window--this was it--this pose said every truth that needed to be said.
Social media is, as we know, far too often a giant dumpster fire. However, because of things like this I am very thankful for it. It has kept me connected with people like my friend, here. James Andrews is an artist and teacher who has been living in the Pacific Northwest since 1999. Andrews work is best described as Narrative Surrealism. While he is skilled in classical figure drawing with graphite and color pencil, the bulk of his professional work is in painting. Born in Brooklyn, New York, in 1973, Andrews' family moved out to Long Island's beautiful East End when he was a toddler. The skies, waters and other scenic features of the beloved Hamptons area, which he will always refer to as “home” populate many of his paintings.
